As the founder of Try Therapy, my passion for mental health began with my studies in psychology at Georgetown University. During my time there, I had the privilege of studying cultural psychology under Dr. Yulia Chentsova-Dutton and Dr. Fathali Moghadam, who inspired me to pursue a doctorate in sociology to study the well-being of our entire society.

While covering the concept of political legitimacy in one of my sociology lectures, I remembered the happiness index that Dr. Chentsova-Dutton had discussed years earlier in class, as well as the individual emotional impact of political rights and duties that Dr. Moghadam had suggested for my psychology honors thesis. This led me to the realization that the state of our society cannot be changed through policy alone – we need more access to therapy and less stigma for those who pursue it.
